London School of Economics researches show that the stress of the parents affects the immune system of children. Comfortable tax payers should reflect on the unreasonable stress to Manchester tenants when rent is made unaffordable by government policies, and on the loss to many already vulnerable children of the protection of the local authorities and schools when they are forcibly moved. We call on Parliament to prevent the mass changing of locks by bailiffs in Manchester by stopping the cap on the Universal Credit for Manchester claimants, reforming the Housing Benefit Regulations and creating a policy for affordable housing in all tenures which will improve not damage the health, wellbeing and security of every citizen of Manchester.","committee_note":null,"state":"closed","signature_count":15,"created_at":"2012-05-21T09:20:43.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:28:10.854Z","rejected_at":null,"opened_at":"2012-05-21T15:16:52.000Z","closed_at":"2013-05-21T15:16:52.000Z","moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2012-05-21T09:20:43.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":null,"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}},{"type":"archived-petition","id":18921,"links":{"self":"https://preview.epetitions.website/archived/petitions/18921.json"},"parliament":{"period":"2010-2015","government":"Conservative – Liberal Democrat coalition","dissolution_at":"2015-03-30T23:59:59.000+01:00","response_threshold":10000,"debate_threshold":100000},"attributes":{"action":"Call for the Government to drop and cap the energy prices and scrap the “Daily Standing Charge”","background":null,"additional_details":"In time of recession when we don't have enough money, the energy companies increased the gas and electricity prices even though they make billions in profit.\r\n\r\nCentrica for example made £1.3 billions profit in the first 6 months of 2011 ONLY, yet they put the prices up for gas by 18% and electricity by 16%.\r\n\r\nEDF had profits of £7.5 billions in the first 6 months, but the electricity increased by 4.5% to which added a 14.70p \"Daily Standing Charge\"; and gas by 15.4% to which added a 23.10p \"Daily Standing Charge\".\r\n\r\nThe increase in energy prices means many people, specially the elderly and disabled won't be able to afford to keep warm this winter.\r\n\r\nI call for the Government to step in, drop and cap the energy prices at an affordable level.\r\n\r\nI call for the Government to scrap the \"Daily Standing Charges\" for both electricity and gas.\r\n\r\nSince the energy companies just increased the prices by 10%-15%, a 30% drop and cap won't do them any harm, and they will still make a profit.","committee_note":null,"state":"closed","signature_count":15,"created_at":"2011-10-10T07:43:32.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:27:21.863Z","rejected_at":null,"opened_at":"2011-10-10T08:55:37.000Z","closed_at":"2012-10-10T08:55:37.000Z","moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2011-10-10T07:43:32.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":null,"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}},{"type":"archived-petition","id":35154,"links":{"self":"https://preview.epetitions.website/archived/petitions/35154.json"},"parliament":{"period":"2010-2015","government":"Conservative – Liberal Democrat coalition","dissolution_at":"2015-03-30T23:59:59.000+01:00","response_threshold":10000,"debate_threshold":100000},"attributes":{"action":"Retailer Supplier Payment","background":null,"additional_details":"To enforce a maximum payment terms of 28 days (or less) on all retailers who have 50 + stores.
