If, between the 60,000 and 90,000 estimate 78,000 rapes happened in one year, only around 1,000 get convicted each year. If that does not worry us I don't know what will.\r\n\r\nEnough with the statistics - what is worrying is that women, and men, who are victims of rape (which is a crime on the increase year by year) are not getting the support they need. Time and time again victims are made to feel as if they are the criminals, making them feel alone and helpless. We need to do more for victims of rape, both male and female, of all ages, to offer better support to the real victims and move on from the victim blaming culture and stop making victims feel like they are not believed. Some estate agents charge up to 3%.\r\n\r\nThis is an extra prohibitive burden on families who need to change house. It is an extra 'tax' on our hard-saved money.\r\n\r\nThe work done by the estate agents to sell a property is very much a constant AND not proportional to the price of the house. The fee charged by Estate Agents should be a fixed fee, e.g. £400, rather than a percentage.\r\n\r\nHence, by voting for this petition, you will encourage our MPs to consider this subject and to discuss it in our parliament.","committee_note":null,"state":"closed","signature_count":12,"created_at":"2012-12-31T16:01:40.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:28:45.922Z","rejected_at":null,"opened_at":"2013-01-07T09:29:50.000Z","closed_at":"2014-01-07T09:29:50.000Z","moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2012-12-31T16:01:40.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":null,"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}},{"type":"archived-petition","id":43491,"links":{"self":"https://preview.epetitions.website/archived/petitions/43491.json"},"parliament":{"period":"2010-2015","government":"Conservative – Liberal Democrat coalition","dissolution_at":"2015-03-30T23:59:59.000+01:00","response_threshold":10000,"debate_threshold":100000},"attributes":{"action":"Give the population of the UK the same human rights as you give the population of the Falkland Islands","background":null,"additional_details":"It CANNOT be legal for a small portion of the citizens of the UK to be granted the human right of self determination while denying that same right to to the vast majority of the population of the UK. However, the tax percentage is applied to the total purchase price rather than just the sum within that threshold (i.e the income tax system).\r\n\r\nThe government needs to change the SDLT system so that the tax is progressive e.g. if you buy a house at £251k you would pay 0% on the first £125k; 1% on the second £125k; and 3% on the final £1k. (Based on current thresholds).  This change would mean that the tax in this example would be £1,280 rather than £7,530 for the present system.\r\n\r\nThe current SDLT system causes stagnation and frustration at and around the threshold limits for both the seller and the buyer and ultimately means fewer houses are sold.\r\n","committee_note":null,"state":"closed","signature_count":12,"created_at":"2011-11-07T10:13:50.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:27:31.922Z","rejected_at":null,"opened_at":"2011-11-08T08:57:59.000Z","closed_at":"2012-11-08T08:57:59.000Z","moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2011-11-07T10:13:50.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":null,"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}}]}
