This means the Yuan is undervalued.\r\n\r\nThis makes our exports to them appear artificially expensive and their imports to us, artificially cheap. It is in effect a trade barrier, but by a different name.\r\nAs a result they earn lots of hard currency but do not spend all of it on our exports: they use it to purchase western assets (equity, property etc). This is;\r\n1) strategically dangerous\r\n2) damages UK jobs without the balance of export-lead replacement jobs\r\n3) works against an open global economy.\r\n\r\nUntil the Yuan is allowed to float freely, the UK government should react in the following way:\r\n1) Impose trade tariffs on Chinese imports and outsourced services\r\n2) Make it illegal to outsource UK jobs to China and provide incentives for companies to return outsourced jobs to the UK\r\n3) Make it illegal for Chinese investment funds to purchase UK assets","committee_note":null,"state":"closed","signature_count":11,"created_at":"2012-04-27T10:30:22.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:28:08.268Z","rejected_at":null,"opened_at":"2012-05-02T08:20:49.000Z","closed_at":"2013-05-02T08:20:49.000Z","moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2012-04-27T10:30:22.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":null,"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}},{"type":"archived-petition","id":33348,"links":{"self":"https://preview.epetitions.website/archived/petitions/33348.json"},"parliament":{"period":"2010-2015","government":"Conservative – Liberal Democrat coalition","dissolution_at":"2015-03-30T23:59:59.000+01:00","response_threshold":10000,"debate_threshold":100000},"attributes":{"action":"Make pornography illegal","background":null,"additional_details":"What with the recent net filter proposals to protect children, I personally feel that these measures do not go far enough.\r\n\r\nThe only logical step to protect our children is to make all pornography illegal, as well as possession, distribution, etc.\r\n\r\nIt has no place in our Christian society.","committee_note":null,"state":"closed","signature_count":11,"created_at":"2012-04-26T05:02:01.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:28:08.153Z","rejected_at":null,"opened_at":"2012-05-04T12:47:48.000Z","closed_at":"2013-05-04T12:47:48.000Z","moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2012-04-26T05:02:01.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":null,"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}},{"type":"archived-petition","id":33307,"links":{"self":"https://preview.epetitions.website/archived/petitions/33307.json"},"parliament":{"period":"2010-2015","government":"Conservative – Liberal Democrat coalition","dissolution_at":"2015-03-30T23:59:59.000+01:00","response_threshold":10000,"debate_threshold":100000},"attributes":{"action":"Stop Pharmaceutical Manufacturers limiting suppies of vital medication into the UK to limit the free movement of goods","background":null,"additional_details":"UK Pharmaceutical Companies are restricting supplies of vital medication to community pharmacists and patients in an effort to stop the free market movement of goods across Europe.\r\nIn doing so they are compromising patient safety and asking Pharmacists to breach data protection law by providing patient &/or prescriber details to verify orders are bonafide.\r\n\r\nThe government must stop this abuse of process and force manufacturers to produce enough to satisfy EU demand and not restrict trade and force manufacturers to stop forcing pharmacists to break the DPA in order to obtain medicines they have a legal right to obtain\r\n\r\nFor over 3 decades the UK has been a net importer of Pharmaceuticals from Europe and is still the second biggest net importer in Europe (second to Germany).\r\nStop the abuse -
