The aim of these lessons would be to give a precise and to the point overview of important worldwide matters. The lessons would include where the event/issue is taking place, who it involves, why it has happened and what will/could happen because of it (what does it mean for the world?).\r\n\r\nI think we need to make these 'Current Affairs' lessons mandatory for all UK high schools. These should take place every week for at least one timetabled period (usually an hour or 50 minutes in most UK schools) for all age groups (years 7 to 11).\r\n\r\nKeep the UK smart.","committee_note":null,"state":"closed","signature_count":9,"created_at":"2012-02-22T23:40:51.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:27:57.954Z","rejected_at":null,"opened_at":"2012-02-23T10:45:53.000Z","closed_at":"2013-02-23T10:45:53.000Z","moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2012-02-22T23:40:51.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":null,"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}},{"type":"archived-petition","id":30235,"links":{"self":"https://preview.epetitions.website/archived/petitions/30235.json"},"parliament":{"period":"2010-2015","government":"Conservative – Liberal Democrat coalition","dissolution_at":"2015-03-30T23:59:59.000+01:00","response_threshold":10000,"debate_threshold":100000},"attributes":{"action":"All Welfare to Work providers who have been convicted of fraud to be stripped of funding immediately","background":null,"additional_details":"All providers working within Welfare to Work funded by Government or Government administered funding and have or are found guilty of fraud to be stripped of funding and barred from future bidding for a minimum of ten years and all funding paid to be re-cooped.","committee_note":null,"state":"closed","signature_count":9,"created_at":"2012-02-23T14:55:27.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:27:58.062Z","rejected_at":null,"opened_at":"2012-02-29T10:41:29.000Z","closed_at":"2012-05-29T09:41:29.000Z","moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2012-02-23T14:55:27.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":null,"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}},{"type":"archived-petition","id":30295,"links":{"self":"https://preview.epetitions.website/archived/petitions/30295.json"},"parliament":{"period":"2010-2015","government":"Conservative – Liberal Democrat coalition","dissolution_at":"2015-03-30T23:59:59.000+01:00","response_threshold":10000,"debate_threshold":100000},"attributes":{"action":"govermant should contract all work to british companys","background":null,"additional_details":"The british govermant and forces are giving the work of making new boats/tanks/trains and buildings to foregin companys, surely the british govermant and forces should give this work to british companys to help the country get back on its feet again.
