I have seen an increase in people blatantly using their phone for texting or making calls with the phone in their hand. There is no fear of being caught and even if you are caught the punishment is not severe enough.\r\n\r\nAny driver caught using or holding a mobile phone whilst driving should receive a minimum 6 month driving ban which can be increased dependant on the severity of the circumstances. These selfish drivers are worse than drink drivers as they are soberly making a decision to put their and other road users lives at risk.\r\n\r\nThe current penalty for the aforementioned offence is clearly no deterrent given the number of drivers who still flout this law, and strict new measures need to be implemented with immediate effect in order to save lives and make our roads safer.\r\n\r\n","committee_note":null,"state":"closed","signature_count":7,"created_at":"2014-05-20T19:35:36.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:29:59.360Z","rejected_at":null,"opened_at":"2014-05-23T10:34:18.000Z","closed_at":"2014-11-23T11:34:18.000Z","moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2014-05-20T19:35:36.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":null,"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}},{"type":"archived-petition","id":65693,"links":{"self":"https://preview.epetitions.website/archived/petitions/65693.json"},"parliament":{"period":"2010-2015","government":"Conservative – Liberal Democrat coalition","dissolution_at":"2015-03-30T23:59:59.000+01:00","response_threshold":10000,"debate_threshold":100000},"attributes":{"action":"Suspend Pakistan from the Commomnwealth","background":null,"additional_details":"The Government should suspend Pakistan from membership of the Commonwealth until serious and lasting action is taken against those who carry out so called 'honour killings' and the practice is outlawed.","committee_note":null,"state":"closed","signature_count":7,"created_at":"2014-05-28T18:03:53.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:30:00.662Z","rejected_at":null,"opened_at":"2014-05-29T09:05:24.000Z","closed_at":"2015-03-30T22:59:59.000Z","moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2014-05-28T18:03:53.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":null,"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}},{"type":"archived-petition","id":66214,"links":{"self":"https://preview.epetitions.website/archived/petitions/66214.json"},"parliament":{"period":"2010-2015","government":"Conservative – Liberal Democrat coalition","dissolution_at":"2015-03-30T23:59:59.000+01:00","response_threshold":10000,"debate_threshold":100000},"attributes":{"action":"Reclaim America","background":null,"additional_details":"In 1776, those who signed that illegal piece of paper not only chose to be traitors to Britain & the Crown, but also narcissists, purely motivated by self-ambition. This consequentially will lead to further destabilisation of the region and the world just as involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan did previously.\r\n\r\nIn order to truly defeat ISIS we should support regional forces of secularism and moderation through means of intelligence sharing, training, providing military equipment and most importantly economic assistance. Only such tactics can provide a lasting end to jihadi organisations and the spectre they create.
