However to prevent bias it is important that strict rules for participation are applied. Inclusion of anyone and everyone at a debate does not seem a good way forward, nor is it fair to say how many parties should attend. An obvious solution to this, is to track the polls: If a party is polling an average of 10% or more ofthe national vote for atleast a 6month period they should be given a place in the 3 debates. It might also be worth having a 4th debate for those that gain over 5% of the vote (accross the region their party stands - be that the whole UK or a devolved nation for example), This solution neither gives a leg up for small parties, nor over represents larger parties: It is more proportional, reducing the effect of unintended media biases.","committee_note":null,"state":"rejected","signature_count":1,"created_at":"2012-02-01T19:05:20.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:27:53.588Z","rejected_at":"2017-06-21T12:37:36.616Z","opened_at":null,"closed_at":null,"moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2012-02-01T19:05:20.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":{"code":"irrelevant","details":null},"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}},{"type":"archived-petition","id":15667,"links":{"self":"https://preview.epetitions.website/archived/petitions/15667.json"},"parliament":{"period":"2010-2015","government":"Conservative – Liberal Democrat coalition","dissolution_at":"2015-03-30T23:59:59.000+01:00","response_threshold":10000,"debate_threshold":100000},"attributes":{"action":"car tax to be payable monthly","background":null,"additional_details":"give us the option to pay car tax by monthly direct debit\r\nthese days when every thing is electronic the dvla know who is insured and who is not why not make life easy for us every day motorists who unless you are wealthy find the prospect for paying in one lump sum very difficult the government do this in other areas why not car tax ? it may even cut down on un taxed cars but better still finding £24 a month is easier than finding £240 once a year ","committee_note":null,"state":"rejected","signature_count":1,"created_at":"2011-09-01T09:53:56.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:27:11.251Z","rejected_at":"2017-06-21T12:35:16.193Z","opened_at":null,"closed_at":null,"moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2011-09-01T09:53:56.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":{"code":"duplicate","details":null},"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}},{"type":"archived-petition","id":28813,"links":{"self":"https://preview.epetitions.website/archived/petitions/28813.json"},"parliament":{"period":"2010-2015","government":"Conservative – Liberal Democrat coalition","dissolution_at":"2015-03-30T23:59:59.000+01:00","response_threshold":10000,"debate_threshold":100000},"attributes":{"action":"Stop schools from becoming academies and begin the process of converting existing academies back into Local Authority run schools","background":null,"additional_details":"Local Authorities whose council is voted in by the public should take responsibility for our children's schooling. It reduces elected representatives to verbal hooligans in the eyes of the electorate and any wider audience, however intelligent they may be.It is posturing and theatrical behaviour of the worst kind, designed to avoid addressing significant issues. Such behaviour is one step away from that of rioters or football crowds who are usually considerably younger and often have less personal control. It is tiresome for any listener. It is time for a fundamental review of acceptable codes of parliamentary behaviour including how standards will be monitored, thus ensuring a meaningful debate of a high quality and principled leadership","committee_note":null,"state":"rejected","signature_count":1,"created_at":"2012-02-02T17:54:29.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:27:53.864Z","rejected_at":"2017-06-21T12:37:37.429Z","opened_at":null,"closed_at":null,"moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2012-02-02T17:54:29.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":{"code":"duplicate","details":null},"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}},{"type":"archived-petition","id":55459,"links":{"self":"https://preview.epetitions.website/archived/petitions/55459.json"},"parliament":{"period":"2010-2015","government":"Conservative – Liberal Democrat coalition","dissolution_at":"2015-03-30T23:59:59.000+01:00","response_threshold":10000,"debate_threshold":100000},"attributes":{"action":"Michael Gove should no longer be the Secretary of State for Education","background":null,"additional_details":"A simple vote of no confidence from head teachers, school governors, teachers, teaching assistants, parents, students, and members of the general public.\r\n\r\nThis man is single handedly ruining the education system of this country in his attempts to transplant a rose-tinted, neo-Victorian private school model on to the modern schooling system, whilst both ignoring and attacking those who work within that profession.
