The school I attend, Alumwell Business and Enterprise College, in Walsall, West Midlands is a perfect example. It being a 1970's building, has limited heating and cooling methods in place. The thing is, if the pipes freeze in Winter and the building reaches a minimum legal temperature, the school cannot open to students and staff. But, in times of intense heat during Summer and Autumn for that matter, students and staff are still obliged to attend. I believe cold weather conditions are less of a safety matter to warm ones, as one may wear a coat or other form of insulated clothing. In the heat, you can't do much about it; you can't strip off in a classroom. Thus, I believe a law should be implemented that details a maximum workplace and educational institution temperature. Guidelines should also be set, schools look at installing Air Conditioning systems.","committee_note":null,"state":"closed","signature_count":4,"created_at":"2011-10-02T21:13:11.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:27:20.188Z","rejected_at":null,"opened_at":"2011-10-03T11:03:36.000Z","closed_at":"2012-04-03T11:03:36.000Z","moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2011-10-02T21:13:11.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":null,"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}},{"type":"archived-petition","id":33121,"links":{"self":"https://preview.epetitions.website/archived/petitions/33121.json"},"parliament":{"period":"2010-2015","government":"Conservative – Liberal Democrat coalition","dissolution_at":"2015-03-30T23:59:59.000+01:00","response_threshold":10000,"debate_threshold":100000},"attributes":{"action":"Contribution to funding private school places","background":null,"additional_details":"All children should be granted an allocation of education to be used at either a state or a private school. This will enable parents greater choice in accessing either public or private education.\r\n\r\nThe allocation would be the amount that would cover attendance at a state school, but if parents wish their children to attend a fee paying school they could opt to 'top it up'. Patients often suffer a variety of symptoms such as memory loss, overwhelming fatigue, balance problems, vision disturbances and migraines. It causes a pre-disposition to blood clots which can cause potentially fatal events such as strokes, seizures, heart attacks and multiple pregnancy loss. This disease can affect people in extremely different ways (the causes of which are still unknown) but many people are far too ill to work or even get out of bed on some days. This is in stark contrast to the views of insurers (life, health, travel, etc) who often won't insure patients due to the condition being potentially life threatening.
