The Statutory Off Roan Notification (SORN) system was originally supposed to be a tool to catch people using untaxed (from January 1998) and since June 2011 uninsured vehicles, yet all it really does is put a burden on otherwise legitimate vehicle owners to inform DVLA when they wish to stop using there vehicle or fine them for failing to do so, even when they have NOT made any illegal use of the vehicle. The whole SORN system should therefore be abolished.
