Rejected petition Confiscate property from families of rioters if fines are unpaid

More details

If a fine imposed on a convicted rioter for a public order offence in unpaid, there will be an automatic referral to bailiffs who will confiscate property from the convicted person to twice the value of the fine; or if that is unsuccessful, the bailiffs will confiscate property from the family of the convicted person in a standard hierarchy of related persons. The Government will introduce legislation to this effect.
