Petition Link Housing Benefit to life of tenancy contract

Have the HB claimant/Tenancy Holder/s understand the claim is for the life of the tenancy contract.If THs defaults ie abandons then the llord is paid for full term of the contract, copy lodged with HB at start of claim.Currently THs move within contract to escape debts etc without responsibility for the signed tenancy, confirmed when HB award for a new property without question re an existing contract.Knowledge that THs cannot claim for a new property unless due notice given is proved = less chaos in housing market, more stability for families, properties/ communities left in better condition & a downward trend in voids.Overall THs advised of their rights at the outset is more able to contact Police, Shelter,Law centres & Support agencies for help with social problems negating the need for the THs to move immediately.This should not affect existing rights of either the L or THs to seek possession or give notice respectively under the tenancy terms.
