Rejected petition Free soft drinks for designated driver campaign
More details
Government to introduce a policy granting free soft drinks to the designated driver on a night out. This person, in return for not drinking alcohol and driving their group, would receive a number of free drinks from pubs & bars.
This would promote greater road safety and potentially reduce the number of drink related motoring accidents. It would also be a relatively low cost contribution to road safety.
A similar policy is used in parts of Canada as shown here: http://www.mlcc.mb.ca/e/mlcc-designated-driver-en
This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not responsible for.
It is for individual publicans etc to decide whether to provide free soft drinks.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
