The government funded Coach Concessionary Travel Scheme which provides reduced fares for over 60's and disabled people is due to be withdrawn by the government end of October 2011.
This will be particularly hard for a vulnerable sector of the public who have probably suffered the most during recent years of financial turmoil, with high inflation and negligible rates of interest on their savings.
To avoid yet another hammer blow to these people, the concessionary scheme must continue.
