Rejected petition Restore CPI as the public sector pension inflation index
More details
Recognising the accuracy of statements in "Unfair Britain" (2008) by the Rt Hon George Osborne, MP, Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2010,
• that pensioner inflation is higher than the Consumer Price Index measure, because pensioners spend a much higher percentage of their income on high-inflation goods than the average household
• and that council tax increases, (not counted by CPI), constitute a major inflationary expense to pensioners
and because Mr Osborne's calculations are subsequently endorsed by many other equally well informed and respected authorities
We the undersigned humbly petition Her Majesty's Government to reinstate the use of the Retail Price Index for pensioner inflation indexing for 2012-13 and thereafter
