Rejected petition Drugs test for unemployment benefits claimants
More details
Many people have their urine tested for the presence of illegal substances before they gain employment.
A similar situation should apply to people seeking to claim social security benefits.
The government must require all claimants pass a urine test before they receive FULL unemployment benefits.
If a claimant fails the drugs test, they should get a REDUCED amount of benefit with the balance going towards a course of treatment to help them break their drug habit.
Claimants must be legally obliged to sign-on for a course of treatment through their doctor or health advisor.
Failure to attend any part of the course of treatment means their benefit claim is reviewed and, perhaps, rejected.
