MP's when using their own private car for official business are entitled to claim motor mileage expenses at 40p/mile for the first 10,000 miles per annum and then 25p/mile for every mile after the cap.
This payment is to cover the cost of fuel and the wear and tear on the private vehicle.
All other Civil Servants are only entitled to claim the 25p/mile rate.
This petition intends to highlight this discrepancy and getting the MP's to discuss this in the Commons may end the double standards.
