The government has to live in the world as it is not as it wants it to be. If the EU starts to implement a Financial transfer tax it will cripple the UK and the UK finances. Pensions will be ruined. 80 percent of an EU wide finance tax would be on the UK. It not the bankers who will lose their jobs they will move abroad but Health workers, state workers etc as tax revenues go down.
