Rejected petition Replace the BBC director general.

More details

Thompson has-for seven years-been & continues to be a director general disaster. He is devoid of any ability to direct the correct allocation of BBC funds:BBC3 being a £90m/yr example of his ineptness.Monies are squandered on unproductive management, presenters & reporters [TV & radio, national & regional] plus time filling repetitive programmes. He oversees a cosy regime of funding misuse & states the same nonsense about licence payer satisfaction surveys,as self serving guff,to justify the wasteful status quo.Thompson must be replaced with a competent director general, one who understands how to use funds on a diverse, quality, vfm radio & TV offering, incorporating efficient manpower utilisation.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not responsible for.

The BBC Trust appoints the Director General.

There is a line of accountability from the Trust directly to the licence fee payer, reinforced by a clear separation between the Trust and Executive Board and an unprecedented obligation to openness and transparency.

It is the responsibility of the Trust to issue 'service licences' to the BBC Executive Board for the delivery of individual public services and ensure that the correct degree of scrutiny is given to all activities, including proposed new services and any significant changes to existing services

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
