RBS is 83% owned by British taxpayers.
As de facto shareholders of this bank, we urgently call upon the Government to block the £963,000 bonus scheduled to be given RBS Chief Executive Stephen Hester.
Mr Hester already receives a basic salary of £1.2m and in a time of austerity and public sector pay freezes, it is totally unacceptable for a public servant to be paid an extra million pound bonus.
We call on the Prime Minister and the Chancellor to show true leadership and block this bonus.
