Court Duty Solicitors should be employed by the court as salaried staff as are clerks & ushers - they are there for defendants who have not arranged their own representation so surely they do not need to be paid by Legal Aid - This would thus save on Legal Aid which is currently running at a huge cost to the taxpayer
