People quite often content to have faded ink.\r\n\r\nTonnes of ink cartridges/toners are being thrown away before their end of life. I propose that printers should warn the consumer of low ink but not force a replacement, and should never stop the printer from functioning due to low ink.\r\n\r\nI can understand equipment forcing a replacement when there is a health and safety issue, that does not apply here.\r\n\r\nManufacturers will argue that the quality of the output will degrade, which is true but that should be my choice.  When the printer reports that the ink is out, it stops, which forces consumers to have 'spares', this is unfair and expensive.","committee_note":null,"state":"rejected","signature_count":1,"created_at":"2012-03-08T10:51:05.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:28:00.805Z","rejected_at":"2017-06-21T12:38:00.863Z","opened_at":null,"closed_at":null,"moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2012-03-08T10:51:05.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":{"code":"irrelevant","details":null},"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}}}
