There are many counselling services available for victims of abuse, but none- that I can see- that actually targets the abuser. Currently, the only way to stop an abuser is through the legal system, which is often as traumatic for the victim, as the original abuse; so many cases of domestic abuse go unreported and the perpetrator is free to go on to abuse the next victim. I propose that domestic abuse cases be heard in smaller courts, with the outcome- if found guilty- being that the abuser is forced to attend an abuser program.\r\n\r\nNot every victim wants their abuser to be sent to prison- they just want the abuse to stop!","committee_note":null,"state":"closed","signature_count":3,"created_at":"2012-03-11T22:34:45.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:28:01.393Z","rejected_at":null,"opened_at":"2012-03-13T14:45:04.000Z","closed_at":"2013-03-13T14:45:04.000Z","moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2012-03-11T22:34:45.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":null,"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[],"signatures_by_country":[],"signatures_by_constituency":[],"signatures_by_region":[],"other_parliamentary_business":[]}}}
