Vehicle Excise Duty has a significant administrative overhead and a requirement on individuals to remember to pay it.

Simply replace it with a nominal increase in fuel duty and you will have a proportionate, even green if you must, alternative which no one will forget to pay and which will be more efficiently collected, reducing the tax burden.
