With the choice of media offerings available, it makes no sense for the BBC to be funded from the public purse. If the BBC did not exist, and it was proposed that over £3billion should be taken from the public to fund a public service broadcaster, it is very unlikely that the population would accept this - the the question is: Why should we have it now?
