Petition Treat all crimes as hate crimes

If your son or daughter was murdered, would it not make you sick if the guy who did it got away with a shorter sentence just because it wasn't a racist attack?

It's not ok for footballers to insult each other's race but it's ok for them to insult their families, again because of hate crime legislation.

Never mind that more and more people are being targeted by the police for expressing their opinion, while the rest of us are considered fair game for abuse from any hood as long as they are not racist, sexist, ageist or homophobic.

We're losing the battle for hearts and minds because we are stopping free speech.

I get that racism is a bad thing but you can't tell people that they are worth less when they are targeted for some other reason.

I'm not saying we get rid of the extra sentences, I'm saying we should treat all violent crimes as hate crimes, maybe then we will see our city centres return from being no-go areas.
