Petition Remove Section 127 of the Communications Act 2003
More details
Matthew Woods was imprisoned in a young offenders institute for 12 weeks after he posted an 'offensive' joke on his Facebook page.
This is backed up by section 127 of the Communications Act 2003 which states a person is guilty if he/she, 'sends by means of a public electronic communications network a message or other matter that is grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character; or
(b)causes any such message or matter to be so sent.'
This is completely totalitarian and completely against Matthew's right to free speech. I wish for the government to remove this article from the act in question and review free speech laws in the UK.
