Those waiting for Social housing; Maybe on low incomes, could not afford private rentals, may be on DSS, have children, smoke, have pets and may fail credit checks. All factors which may prevent private renting or private mortgages with UK banks.

Also long housing waiting lists, homelessness, short term contracts and anti-social behaviour are all community problems affecting the above group.

Government Mortgages, open to UK residents should offer mortgages as an alternative to Social Housing.

Bringing affordable housing opportunities to those in the above bracket.
Reducing Housing lists.
Opening up the Housing Market.
Empowering people to have a stake in their community by being able to purchase a home that they desire, in which they could personalise and have the security of a long term tenancy.

Profits would be returned to the community as would homes that were repossessed.
