Petition Foreign aid referendum - budget allocation review
More details
The arbitrary target 0.7% GDP was decided by the UN and not the British people. In 2008, the british contribution was 0.48%, whilst the US and Japan only 0.2%
Such a major budget decision, especially in such economic times should be allowed for the people to vote and not have to wait for policy & manifestos in next round of elections.
A referendum should be called to allow for cross party discussion and to allow THE PEOPLE TO DECIDE.
A) Increase to 1% of GDP (same as Sweden)
B) Increase to 0.7% (UN target)
B) Revert to 0.45% (average country contribution)
C) Reduce to 0.2% (same as US & Japan)
