Rejected petition Allow 2:2 classification graduates the same opportunities of looking for work as 1st and 2:1 graduates!
More details
As of 2013 graduates that apply for work for most companies in the UK require a minimum of a 2:2 degree.
This makes 2:2 graduates excluded from the graduates jobs market after investing years of their time at university, and in some cases no option on returning to university to obtain the minimum of a 2:1 because of the rising costs of going to university.
This leaves 2:2 graduates with a dead end feeling and less confident, with nowhere to progress other than working in low skilled jobs or leaving the UK to find better opportunities related to their career.
The government must change the law to allow graduates who obtained a 2:2 degree equality and the same opportunities of looking for work as 1st and 2:1 graduates and make it illegal for employers to advertise for graduates with only 1st or 2:1 degrees.
This would give 2:2 graduates more confidence in finding work and reduce unemployed graduates on benefits, helping them into the jobs market.
