The issue of discrimination could be raised, as the national minimum wage for those 21 and over will rise to £6.19, and the apprentice rate to £2.65, while those at the age of 16-20 will stay the same.Ths means those aged under 21 are being discriminated against. I am certain you are aware that the national minimum wage for 16-18 year olds is £3.68 an hour and £4.98 an hour for those aged 18-20. These are not only well below the rates of £6.19 an hour for people aged 21+ but it is also well below the national living wage which has been calculated at £7.20 per hour. Rising the minimum wage of those aged 16-20, would make a huge difference to the lives of young people.The situation at the moment is unacceptable and must be changed in order to create a fairer UK. So please sign this petition.","committee_note":null,"state":"rejected","signature_count":1,"created_at":"2013-03-10T10:43:41.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:28:56.210Z","rejected_at":"2017-06-21T12:40:53.610Z","opened_at":null,"closed_at":null,"moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2013-03-10T10:43:41.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":{"code":"duplicate","details":null},"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}}}
