Petition End the Road Tax charge and place a per litre Levy on Petrol/Diesel sales instead.

1. No road user could avoid paying the road tax levy.
2. Road tax levy paid would be proportionate to usage/millage covered.
3. Foreign vehicles would pay road tax when refuelling.
4. Large capacity or high performance vehicles with low mpg would pay a higher road tax levy than small capacity high mpg vehicles – good green credentials.
5. Electric and other Eco vehicles would pay no road tax levy
6. Farm and off road construction vehicles could receive a refund
7. The mechanism exists to collect revenue on petrol sales, this mechanism could also be used to collect the additional road tax levy.
8. There would prove to be a saving of costs as there would be no requirement for the issue or handling of the paper disc.
