The threshold rises to £22,400 if the couple have a child.\r\n\r\nUnder the new system, 40% of the British working population are prevented from bringing a foreign spouse to live with them here in Britain.\r\n\r\nThe amendments to the immigration law have now forced many people to choose between either a life lived away from the UK, or a painful separation from loved ones for a long period of time, sometimes even forever.\r\n\r\nThese new laws are tearing homes and families apart and causing undue stress to thousands of British citizens in and outside of the UK. These are radical and racist movements from a government that supposedly supports the institution of marriage and family life.\r\n\r\nThe Goverment need to review individual cases and review peoples personal circumstances.","committee_note":null,"state":"rejected","signature_count":1,"created_at":"2013-07-03T15:34:46.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:29:14.454Z","rejected_at":"2017-06-21T12:41:54.896Z","opened_at":null,"closed_at":null,"moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2013-07-03T15:34:46.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":{"code":"duplicate","details":null},"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}}}
