Citizens convicted of theft and burglary must pay a £50 fee to any person who has been a confirmed victim of theft or burglary in the past five years, regardless of whether the theft was commited by them or not.
This only applies within a one-mile radius of the place of residence of the thief within urban areas, and a ten-mile radius in rural areas.
This payment must be accompanied by a personal letter of apology. Hopefully, this should ensure that people are reimbursed for stolen property, and that second offences are reduced in quantity.
