Those radios cost hundreds of pounds and beyond the reach of most listeners.\r\n\r\nThe BBC estimates households have an average of 6 radios. Given that some are Hi-Fi quality radios, it will cost households many hundreds of pounds to upgrade.\r\n\r\nThe advantages of DAB are small to the listener. The disadvantage of switching off FM transmissions are enormous. Hundreds of millions of radios will become useless and thrown into landfill.\r\n\r\nThe difference between FM and DAB is too small to warrant the replacement of EVERY radio set in the country. Better to wait for a new technology that provides a real improvement on what FM provides.\r\n.\r\n","committee_note":null,"state":"rejected","signature_count":1,"created_at":"2011-08-06T00:40:10.000Z","updated_at":"2020-02-16T19:26:38.193Z","rejected_at":"2017-06-21T12:33:18.994Z","opened_at":null,"closed_at":null,"moderation_threshold_reached_at":"2011-08-06T00:40:10.000Z","response_threshold_reached_at":null,"government_response_at":null,"debate_threshold_reached_at":null,"debate_scheduled_at":null,"scheduled_debate_date":null,"debate_outcome_at":null,"rejection":{"code":"duplicate","details":null},"government_response":null,"debate":null,"departments":[],"topics":[]}}}
