Caoilte Fitzsimons is 5 months old. When she was 3 months old her family recieved a devastating diagnosis that she had Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1. This Is an incurable life limiting condition which has resulted in severe muscle weakness, lack of movement and difficulty in breathing..
At present caoilte is coping well with the illness however her life is so precious and every measure needs to be in place to ensure the highest quality, care and right treatment. In the past children with SMA have been refused the crucial treatment such as a tracheostomy to prolong their lives.
This petiton is to show support for Caoilte's right for any future treatment needed to help in her fight with SMA and protect her life.
