The Evacuation of the Elderly in Major Incidents/Disasters frequently means that they are temporarily placed in Rescue Centres. This is often a traumatic experience and creates additional fears and worries. It removes their dignity and adds to their stress and concerns. Wherever possible, the Elderly should be offered placement in Hotels, the cost of doing being met by Government.
