More details

Lewis Gill killed Andrew Young with one punch for telling him that cycling on the pavement is dangerous. Gill walked up to Mr Young and punched him, Mr young fell and hit his head and subsequently died from his injuries.Gill has been sentenced to 4 and a half years in prison which he won't serve.I want to get 100,000 signatures to have his sentance increased because it's disgusting.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not responsible for.

Sentences that appear to be unduly lenient cannot be referred through the E-Petitions website. If you believe a sentence given in a Crown Court appears to be very low, or unduly lenient, anyone can contact the Attorney General's office asking for the sentence to be reviewed as long as it is within 28 days of sentencing.

It also only takes one person to make such a request. In the case of Lewis Gill, the Attorney General’s Office has already requested the papers from the Crown Prosecution so one of the Law Officers can decide whether or not to refer the sentences to Court of Appeal as being unduly lenient.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
