Since closure of the mine in 1987 Horden’s population has fallen and has gradually lost most of its services and amenities including Police and Fire Stations, secondary school, many local shops, cinemas, as if this is not enough we have now lost our name which is part of our identity , we don't exist as far as the post office is concerned and we are classed as part of Peterlee, Give us back our name, we live in HORDEN, petition is to have Horden back on our address with post offices and all other official registers
