Petition Possibility of Criminal Record Tax
More details
Many people, especially adolescents and young adults, commit crimes because they are not deterred by the consequences of their actions- even if they are caught.
A criminal record tax is the idea that judges can issue a sentence of higher tax and national insurance for a period of time (whilst the criminal is working)
The main aim for this would be too reduce crimes such as anti-social behaviour, assaults and drug possession.
This differs to a fine, because a fine is viewed by many as a fairly short term inconvenience.
