Rejected petition Referendum on the EU
More details
In 1975, the British people voted in a post-ratification Referendum to remain a member of the European Economic Community (Common Market).
The EEC was transformed into the European Union by various Treaties which were debated and voted on in Parliament. But the British people have never been given an opportunity to vote in a Referendum on whether we should be a member of the European Union.
That democratic deficiency should be rectified. I petition the Prime Minister to call a Referendum on whether the UK should continue to remain a member of the EU.
