I note that gate closure time length to be excessive at railway crossings. While the need for safety is paramount, over cautious closures results in unnecessary pollution due to waiting cars, stress to drivers and pedestrians and millions of pounds of loss to the economy due to traffic delays.Modern technology should be used to cut down unduly long closure times.
