This petition was submitted during the 2010-2015 parliament
Petition insurance damage categories c and d should reflect the safety aspects of the damage and not if repair is economical.
More details
DVLA/VOSA record the write-off of a vehicle although there is no significance as to the safety of a repair. Important costs can be imposed on an owner due to arbitory decisions made by insurance companies. Ironically the same insurance company who benefitted from writing your car off will then increase the premium for owners who repair their car at a non "insurer owned" repair shop. Wikipedia provides further details at http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_check.
The categories which do not ultimately reflect safety related damage should be changed.
