Rejected petition Corporal punishment (caning) for criminal punishment

Following the horrific rioting we have observed in our country, it seems that those responsible are not deterred by existing forms of punishment.
Introducing caning for crimes such as rioting, vandalism, burglary etc would go a long way to making would be criminals think twice. The law of Singapore employs such a system to great effect and I would propose we introduce the same system here.
