Shaker Aamer, a Saudi Arabian citizen, was living in London prior to travelling to Afghanistan.
The US authorities believe he is a senior al-Qaeda figure,a ‘special interpreter’ for Osama bin Laden, with alleged links to terror networks both in the UK and US.
When he is freed from Guantanamo Bay, Aamer will be entitled to a compensation payment of about £1 million.
Veterans injured and wounded whilst serving in British forces are denied care by local councils and government.
Shaker Aamer is a saudi citizen and should seek compensation from his own country.
