Rejected petition All students of ages 15-18 should be entitled to the further studying of a topic of their interest.
More details
GCSE students in the UK are precluded from excelling in subjects they are good at because their schools deem them "unfit for the course".
Schools should provide students with the opportunity to study an advanced level of a subject they feel they are good at and have proved they are.
If a student maintains A grade or above in a topic throughout year 10 then they should have the option to take up an advanced study in that area regardless of their set or academic record from previous years.
This will boost success for schools and give students the opportunity to excel in a particular field.
The government should fund high schools all over the UK so they are able to provide teachers to teach the advanced studies. The funding should also cover resources needed for the course.
