In the wake of the recent rioting, it has become clear that a radical policy is now required to foster respect, self-discipline a sense of direction amongst young Britons. I propose the re-introduction of a one year period of compulsory national service for all British males between the ages of 18 and 25. This policy is currently in effect in Austria, Denmark, Greece, Guyana, Israel, Iran, Malaysia, Mexico, Norway, Finland, the Republic of China (Taiwan), Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland and Turkey.
