Percentage based credit charges are a rip off. It (should) costs no more for card companies to undertake a £10,000 transaction than one for £1 - it is all done electronically after all. The government should introduce legislation banning percentage based charges and restrict these to a maximum transaction cost based on a minor fixed fee, in the region of £5.00.
