Rejected petition Child train fares for 16 and 17 year olds
More details
I am 16, I am still at school, I have no income, and I believe that it is unfair for 16-17 year olds to be seen as adults on public transport when we are not seen as adults in the eyes of the law; we can not vote, we can not buy alcohol, we can not buy cigarettes, we have a lower minimum wage etc. so why are we charged adult fares on public transport?! To make easy money is the answer.
The adult price for the short 20 minute journey to manchester from macclesfield where I live is over £8; I simply can not afford to travel for this price whilst in full time education.
