Removing benefits form those convicted of rioting or looting won't work as they will be poorer and more inclined to act in a criminal manner.
Instead of wasting public money imprisoning rioters and looters or taking away their benefits... make all contribute to society through Community Service Orders so that they can clean up and rebuild the communities they have destroyed.
